Player Everton sold for just £23m has now been nominated for the Ballon d’Or
Everton have made some serious transfer blunders over the years.
The Toffees have signed their fair share of flops in recent times such as Davy Klaassen, Moise Kean and Cenk Tosun, but perhaps their biggest transfer mistake has been around a departure.
Indeed, cast your mind back a few years and you’ll remember Everton sanctioning a £23m deal to sell Ademola Lookman to RB Leipzig.
At the time, that looked like a fantastic fee for a player who wasn’t delivering at Goodison Park, and after two underwhelming loan spells with Leicester City and Fulham, Everton’s decision to sell Lookman appeared to be justified.
However, over the past two years, Lookman’s form has gone through the roof, and now, the Nigerian is considered among the best players in the world.
Ademola Lookman nominated for the Ballon d’Or
The shortlist of Ballon d’Or nominees was released on Wednesday, and Ademola Lookman made the 30-man list.
The usual suspects were all there as the likes of Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane were nominated, but Lookman also got the nod.
