Don Williams announces retirement
Country Music Hall of Famer Don Williams is retiring after six decades in the music business.
“It’s time to hang my hat up and enjoy some quiet time at home,” Williams said in a statement. He lives in Ashland City. “I’m so thankful for my fans, my friends and my family for their everlasting love and support.”
Known as the Gentle Giant, Williams had at least one hit every year between 1974 and 1991, including “Good Ole Boys Like Me,” “Till the Rivers All Run Dry,” “It Must Be Love,” “I’m Just a Country Boy,” “Amanda” and “I Believe in You.”
Williams postponed his tour in February because of unexpected hip replacement surgery.
