Packers have three big question marks on injured list for Week 1
The Green Bay Packers have a huge Week 1 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night in Sao Paulo, Brazil, but unfortunately, they also have three huge question marks on the injury report.
On Thursday, just over 24 hours away from kickoff, the Packers released their injury report, and there are three important players on it: tight end Tucker Kraft and running backs Mar’Shawn Lloyd and Emmanuel Wilson.
Kraft is questionable with a back injury, Lloyd with a hamstring and Wilson with a hip.
Of the three players, Kraft’s absence would be the most hurtful for the Packers. Sure, Luke Musgrave is technically Green Bay’s starting tight end, but Kraft came on big at the end of last season and he’s a big part of what could be an extremely effective one-two punch at tight end for the Packers. He opens up the short passing and run-after-catch games, which helps Musgrave become more of a vertical threat for the Packers.
Meanwhile, Lloyd and Wilson are running backs Nos. 2 and 3 on Green Bay’s depth chart, but it’s not like starter Josh Jacobs is going to be able to take every rep. Lloyd was drafted to be a great counter back to Jacobs and Wilson has shown he has enough juice to be a capable backup.
With A.J. Dillon on the IR and likely done in Green Bay, the Packers might have to rely on a practice squad player to back up Jacobs if either Lloyd or Wilson can’t go against Philly.
Their options would be Ellis Merriweather, La’Michal Perine or Chris Brooks, who have a combined 113 NFL snaps between them.
