Club keen to see Leeds United sell player for big money.

FC Zurich are desperate to see Leeds United cash in on Wilfried Gnonto in the near future as they would be in line to receive a significant chunk of the fee if the Italian moves on from Elland Road.

Leeds lost Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter from the team that lost the playoff final against Southampton at the end of last season.

There were question marks over Gnonto’s future as well and they did reject an offer from Everton for the Italian in the last summer transfer window.

The Italian signed a new four-year contract with Leeds towards the end of the summer and is now a key player in Daniel Farke’s plans this season.

However, his former side, FC Zurich, would have preferred if Leeds decided to sell the winger for a big fee in the last transfer window.

The club are eyeing a significant payoff if Wilfried Gnonto leaves Leeds United
Leeds signed the winger from FC Zurich in 2022 for a fee of €4.5m and the winger’s value has gone up during his time at Elland Road.

As part of the agreement, the Swiss side secured a sell-on clause that would see them get a significant part of any fee that Leeds secured from the sale of Gnonto.

According to the Swiss daily Blick, FC Zurich are eagerly waiting for Gnonto to move on from Leeds for a big fee as it would boost them financially as well.

Club president Ancillo Canepa admitted last month that he was hoping that the player would leave Leeds in the recently concluded summer transfer window.

Zurich are hopeful that the new contract is to protect Leeds and that the club will eventually cash in on the player in the upcoming transfer window.

There is talk of interest from Italy ahead of the winter window but it would take a significant fee to convince Leeds to sell Gnonto in the middle of the season.
