Million Manhoef chat as Stoke boss delivers ‘ideal’ verdict
Million Manhoef is a man on a mission at Stoke City
Million Manhoef sat down with Steven Schumacher this week after returning from another two-goal burst on international duty to work out how he can make even more improvements.
The 22-year-old right winger has 10 goals in his last 17 games for club and country, with the last couple helping Netherlands book their place at the under-21s European Championships. He had gone into that break with the winner at Plymouth and having scored twice in a 5-0 romp at Middlesbrough a few days previously.
He will be one of the first names on the teamsheet when Stoke line up at Oxford United today (12.30pm) but neither him nor his coaches are resting on their laurels.
Schumacher said: “He’s a talented player. When we came into the building and we spoke about the kind of profile of players we had and how I envisaged the team, we had a couple of games before we got to the January window. We didn’t have a left-footed attacking player, which is what I had at my previous club with a wide player who cuts in from that right side and can score goals from outside the box and inside the box.
“We highlighted that and spoke to the recruitment team at the time and there was Million Manhoef on the list. We went off and did the research and watched the games and went through his profile and decided to go and buy him. I’m really grateful that we did and so far he’s shown what a good player he is. I still think there’s loads of improvement for him as well.
