Burnley’s James Trafford hailed for Leeds United display
Cumbrian keeper James Trafford has been hailed for a “brilliant” display that kept out Leeds United.
Trafford starred for Burnley at Elland Road in a 1-0 victory in the Championship.
The England Under-21 international, from Greysouthen, made a number of crucial saves and showed composed handling as Scott Parker’s side prevailed.
The Clarets boss later reserved special praise for Trafford after the 21-year-old’s impressive outing.
“He was brilliant, and that’s exactly what Traff needs,” said Parker.
“I’m very pleased for him. He needed a result and a game like he did [here].
“The boy had a tough year last year, he’d be the first to say that. Mentally and psychologically it was a tough season for him.
“We’re going to need every bit of him this yr. I thought he was brilliant.”
Trafford had been linked with Newcastle United before the transfer deadline, but remained at Turf Moor.
