Sheffield United chief Chris Wilder has his say on Tim Walter’s Hull City strategy
The Tigers slumped to second bottom of the early season table after the weekend’s results
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder says Acun Ilicali knew exactly what he was getting when he appointed Tim Walter to replace Liam Rosenior during the summer.

Wilder masterminded a comfortable 2-0 win at the MKM Stadium on Friday night courtesy of a goal in each half from Gustavo Hamer and Sam McCallum to leave City without a win under their German head coach and sitting
Speaking before the Yorkshire derby, Wilder admitted his surprise at Ilicali’s decision to part with Rosenior after he guided City to a seventh-placed finish last term, and then after the game, explained how he plotted to exploit the big spaces left by Walter’s expansive style but said Ilicali will not be surprised by the risk and reward approach from the former Hamburg boss.
Every manager has the ability to set the team up (as he sees fit),” Wilder told Hull Live. “I think the owner is a football man, so he would have known what he was getting himself into in terms of the manager coming in and the style that they want to play.
I’ve got absolutely no issue in terms of how any team plays or sets up. What I will say is that at times they did cause us some problems and moved the ball well.

“I’m never going to comment on how an opposition manager sets his team up or how they play, we have enough on in terms of getting my own team through the work that we do coaches-wise to make sure we’re as good as we can possibly be.”
