Everton are hoping to have as many as four players return to match fitness in time to face Leicester City in the Premier League this weekend, but Jarrad Branthwaite is not one of them.
Both clubs enter round five of the new term still searching for a first victory. Steve Cooper’s City were denied theirs’ in the closing stages against Crystal Palace last weekend, instead drawing 2-2, whilst either side of the international break Everton lost 3-2 after holding two-goal leads against both Bournemouth and Aston Villa.
Leicester will also be entering the weekend with the fresher legs of the two teams as their next opponents had Carabao Cup matters to attend to. Ultimately it was more heartbreak as they were knocked out by Southampton via penalties at Goodison Park, though after the final whistle manager Sean Dyche explained his hope to have a more complete squad for Saturday’s trip the King Power Stadium.
“We hope to get the three with illness [Vitalii Mykolenko, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, James Garner] back. We’re hopeful on Tarky [James Tarkowski], but the rest are unlikely,” he said via the club’s social media.
