Mengi is fully committed to the Hatters following recent transfer speculation
Centre half eager for Town to kick on after Millwall victory
Defender Teden Mengi insists he is fully committed to the cause with Luton after staying at the club despite increased speculation surrounding his future during the recent transfer window.
It had been unclear whether Mengi, who was one of Town’s breakthrough stars during their Premier League campaign last term, would be remaining at Kenilworth Road ahead of the new campaign, with manager Rob Edwards fielding questions about the centre half on virtually a weekly basis. Top flight sides Crystal Palace and Fulham were both rumoured to be interested, as were a number of clubs from abroad, Serie A side Torino then heavily tipped to be close to completing a deal for the former Manchester United youngster in the final hours of the window.
Although Spanish journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted negotiations were underway, it ultimately didn’t go through, meaning he remained in Bedfordshire when the deadline passed, going on to feature in all five of Luton’s Championship matches so far. On whether he had been unsettled by all the outside noise and if he had come close to moving away, the England U21 international said: “It’s a line in the sand and you only look forward, you don’t look back now. You’ve just got to get on with it really, nothing’s real until it actually happens.
