Hull City | Abdüş in contention for start

Omur and Zambrano injury latest after pair leave Hull City win at Stoke City early.

The Tigers have been buoyed by a fine win in the Potteries.

Hull City expect both Abdus Omur and Oscar Zambrano to be available for next Saturday’s home clash with Cardiff City next Saturday afternoon.

Omur was withdrawn at half-time of Friday night’s 3-1 win at Stoke City with Liam Millar coming on in his place while Zambrano, having been elbowed in the face in the first half, came off in the second just before the hour mark with Xavier Simons his replacement.

Neither are thought to be serious and should return to training next week ahead of that clash with the Bluebirds, with the Tigers looking to back up their first win of the campaign, a result given to them courtesy of goals from Kasey Palmer, Regan Slater and a Ben Wilmot own goal, the Stoke defender bagging at each end after heading in the opener.

Zambrano in particular had impressed again on his second start for the Tigers before an innocuous-looking landing at the bet365 Stadiuim early in the second half and had to be replaced by Simons, who played his part in a terrific turnaround.

Walter refused to be drawn on Gibson’s early challenge on the Ecuador youngster which left him needing treatment and many, including former Stoke boss Gary Rowett, feeling the defender should have been sent off by referee Ben Toner, having landed his elbow firmly into the face of Zambrano at a corner.

“He’s OK, it was just a moment, but he’s OK,” Walter told Hull Live when asked how the midfielder was.

“I didn’t see it to be honest (Gibson’s elbow), but like what I said the whole time before, I never will say a word about the referees because you can’t change it. Maybe sometimes in the Championship we get a (little frustrated) but we have to live with that.”

Walter will still be unable to call upon Charlie Hughes, Ryan Longman, Dogukan Sinik and Andy Smith for the visit of struggling Cardiff next weekend.
