Adam Schefter Reveals Panthers’ Timeline for Trading QB Bryce Young.
Ever since the Carolina Panthers benched quarterback Bryce Young in favor of Andy Dalton, many believed it was only a matter of time before the former No. 1 overall pick was traded. Young hasn’t lived up to expectations two games into his second NFL season, and after his performance in Carolina’s 26-3 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers – a game in which he completed 18 of 26 passes for 84 yards and an interception – head coach Dave Canales admitted he felt Dalton gave the team a better chance to win now than Young did. Alabama star, ESPN insider Adam Schefter recently revealed when to expect a potential Young trade to go down. “The Panthers have been contacted by certain teams, according to league sources, while other teams have mulled a Young trade within their own organizations,” Schefter wrote. “Although the Panthers have said that they don’t plan to trade Young at this time, sources around the league believe it is only a matter of time before Carolina actually does complete a deal involving the second-year quarterback — with the most likely time coming at some point in the offseason.” Young has struggled through the first 18 games of his NFL career. He’s already had three different
head coaches and two different offensive coordinators, and a change of scenery with some stability could be just what Young needs. Teams that have been linked to Young over the last week include the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, the Los Angeles Rams and New York Jets. Young has three more years left on his rookie deal. He has cap hits of $8.26 million in 2024, $10.35M in 2025 and $12.07M in 2026.
