Newcastle’s Carabao Cup third-round clash with AFC Wimbledon is expected to be postponed.
The Magpies are scheduled to take on the League Two outfit at The Cherry Red Records Stadium on Tuesday night, though the chances of the match going ahead appear to be slim.
Storms have swept across the United Kingdom over the past few days, and rainfall in London appears to have taken its toll on Wimbledon’s stadium.
According to the Chronicle, the match is likely to be postponed due to flooding in the vicinity of the ground.
Eddie Howe’s press conference this morning (Monday) has been cancelled as a result, with Wimbledon expected to provide an official update in the coming hours.
The Magpies were keen to bounce back to winning days against their EFL opposition after they tasted defeat for the first time this season at the weekend.
Newcastle were put to the sword by Fulham on Saturday, with Marco Silva’s side cruising to a 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Raul Jimenez, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson.
Harvey Barnes scored for the Magpies’ for his second goal in as many games to make it 2-1 before Fulham bagged a late third to confirm the three points.
