West Brom man poised to miss Sheffield Wednesday trip
West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has said Jayson Molomby has suffered a calf injury and will be out for the next seven to 10 days.
West Brom left the midfielder out of their squad over the weekend against Plymouth Argyle. They went on to win 1-0 at The Hawthorns with striker Josh Maja on the scoresheet.
Molomby, 25, is now set to miss their trip to Hillsborough on Saturday as they prepare to face Sheffield Wednesday. The Baggies have made a strong start to the new season and find themselves top of the Championship table above Sunderland.
West Brom selection update
Not having Molomby available is a slight blow for West Brom as he is a useful player to have in the middle of the park.
They aren’t taking any risks with him though which is sensible and will only throw him back in when he is fully ready.
West Brom signed the Republic of Ireland international, who has 26 caps under his belt, back in 2021 on an initial loan deal before making his switch permanent.
He is out of contract in June 2025 and they have a decision to make regarding his long-term future.
The Baggies risk losing him for nothing next year if they don’t tie him down to an extension anytime soon.
Molomby has since made 76 appearances in all competitions and has scored five goals.
