Marc Albrighton issues honest verdict on Leicester City Director of Football Jon Rudkin
Leicester City have been on a rollercoaster ride over the last 10 years.
Two promotions, a Premier League and FA Cup triumph and multiple campaigns in Europe. It’s been a memorable period in Leicester’s history.
However, there is one blotch, a relegation, which supporters largely felt was due to the board-level mismanagement.
Director of Football Jon Rudkin has received a lot of criticism from fans, with banners even rolling out at games.
That only intensified when Leicester were hit with a possible points deduction for breaching PSR during the 2022/23 season.
The Foxes managed to escape punishment but there’s still a frosty feeling among a section of the fanbase towards Rudkin.
Marc Albrighton defends Jon Rudkin
When asked about Leicester chiefs Jon Rudkin and Susan Whelan, Marc Albrighton acknowledged the fans’ frustration towards them but was quick to praise their management over the last decade.
“I know that they’re getting a lot of stick, you hear them chanting about them at games nowadays, but I don’t really know the ins and outs, it’s hard for me to comment,” the 34-year-old said.
“So I don’t really know the ins and outs of it all, obviously there was the financial stuff where we thought we were going to have points deducted and I think the fans were worried about that – that hasn’t materialised.
