Hull City: New head coach Liam Rosenior looking to reduce size of squad - BBC Sport

Gustavo Puerta’s absence for Hull City against Sheffield United and Stoke City explained

Gustavo Puerta’s omission from Hull City’s squad at Stoke City last Friday is thought to be down to selection, as detailed in a report by HullLive.
Hull City swooped to land the midfielder on loan from Bayer Leverkusen last month to bolster their options in the middle of the park. They have an option to buy him on a permanent basis next summer, as per their official club website.

Puerta, 21, hasn’t made an appearance for the Tigers yet. He was on the bench away at Leeds United in late August but has missed out in their last two outings against Sheffield United and Stoke City as he faces a battle to get into the team.

According to HullLive, he isn’t injured and his absence is due to competition for places in his position. Tim Walter has other options ahead of him at the moment such as Oscar Zambrano, Regan Slater, Xavier Simons and Steven Alzate.

Hull City selection latest
As with any young player from abroad, it will take Puerta a bit of time to get used to life in England.

The Colombia youth international started his career in his native country with spells at Talentos Gustavo Victoria and Supercampeonos before joining Bogota in 2021.
