Sunderland to be without new signing for Watford test as Regis Le Bris offers fitness update
Sunderland new boy Aaron Connolly won’t be involved against Watford this weekend, manager Regis Le Bris has confirmed.
Sunderland were active in the summer transfer window and as desired, they added two new strikers to their squad at the Stadium of Light.
Wilson Isidor and Ahmed Abdullahi have both joined the ranks on Wearside. Alongside the in-form Eliezer Mayenda and Nazariy Rusyn, they make a solid attacking department, but there has been a desire for a bit more depth and pedigree.
As such, the Black Cats made a move for free agent Aaron Connolly earlier this week. He joins on a free transfer after his short-term contract with Hull City came to an end in the summer.
Sunderland fans are eagerly awaiting their new striker’s first outing in red and white, but it seems they will have to wait to see him in action.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s clash with Watford, manager Regis Le Bris said that while Connolly has kept himself in good shape while out of the game, it is uncertain when he will be available for selection. It will not be against the Hornets though, with a post-international break return more likely, as relayed by Phil Smith.
