Cardiff City caretaker boss makes Hull City admission after heavy defeat
The Bluebirds remain rooted to the foot of the Championship having conceded 17 goals in their opening seven games
Cardiff City interim boss Omer Riza felt Saturday’s 4-1 thrashing at Hull City was harsh on the beleaguered Bluebirds as they fell to a sixth defeat in seven games.
Riza, who took charge following the sacking of Erol Bulut last Sunday, got off to the best possible start when Callum Robinson raced away to thump the away side in front after just 18 minutes.
That goal, just the second of the season for Cardiff, threatened to spoil City’s 120th birthday celebrations and indeed, any hope of a first Championship win this term was quickly eroded from the moment Mohamed Belloumi equalised four minutes later
Cardiff’s misery was compounded after Abu Kamara was decked by Perry Ng, w ith summer arrival Chris Bedia stepping up to slot in the penalty and add further gloss to the scoreline for the hosts, sealing a first home win under Tim Walter and just a third MKM Stadium success in 2024.
“We’re disappointed if I’m honest,” he said. “We approached the game the right way; I think tactically and strategically we wanted to apply pressure to Hull, and I think we did that. We won the ball back up the pitch on numerous occasions, but we lacked that final pass or final decision to execute and score.
