Portsmouth boss ‘trying every superstition’ as he bids for first win at Stoke City
Portsmouth manager John Mousinho is trying to find a lucky charm as he bids to get his first win of the season in a mid-week game at Stoke City
John Mousinho is working his way through a catalogue of would-be lucky charms and superstitions to the point that he will ditch his belt when he takes Portsmouth to Stoke City this mid-week.
The Pompey boss was impressed with his team’s performance and grit in a 0-0 home draw with Sheffield United on Saturday, the fourth draw in their opening seven games of the season after winning promotion to the Championship. But he is still searching for that first win and, for that, he is ready to give anything a go.
“I have tried everything to get a win, honestly it’s a disgrace the amount of things I have tried,” he said at Fratton Park at the weekend. “I forgot to wear a belt today so I will probably try that on Wednesday and carry it on. It’s ridiculous what I have tried. It’s not even worth trying to tell you what I’ve done otherwise we would be here all night but none have made an ounce of difference.”
