One of the best’ – Sunderland hailed by Watford boss Tom Cleverley
Sunderland are ‘one of the best pass-and-move’ teams Watford boss Tom Cleverley has seen.
Sunderland were beaten 2-1 away at Vicarage Road over the weekend but the Hornets’ manager was impressed by the way the visitors played.
The host led 1-0 at half-time after Festy Ebosele’s opener. The Black Cats levelled it up early in the second-half through Wilson Isidor, only for Tom Dele-Bashiru to score the winner six minutes from time from the penalty spot.
Cleverley said after the match, as per a report by the Watford Observer: “You always want to kick on and be as assertive as we were against Stoke, but Sunderland are a good side. They’re one of the best pass-and-move sides I’ve seen, with rotations and with young players who can take the ball.
“We saw that at the end of last season, and it was a similar sort of performance from them today, particularly the way they dominated the ball in the second half. I think we limited them to far less clear-cut chances today.”
Sunderland hailed
Sunderland have made an impressive start to the new season and have won five out of their first seven fixtures.
They are 2nd in the table behind West Brom as they prepare for their upcoming home clash against Derby County.
