Norwich City 1-1 Leeds: Thorup on Cordoba injury fear.

Jose Cordoba is set for a scan to assess a suspected knee injury that forced him off at half-time in Norwich City’s 1-1 Championship draw against Leeds on Tuesday.Cordoba lay prone on the turf as the half-time whistle blew inside his penalty area, before two physios and two of the paramedics at Carrow Road, along with centre back partner Shane Duffy, surrounded the Panamanian.

The 23-year-old was able to walk unaided to the touchline, and did an impromptu drill to test his right knee, before he departed down the tunnel at the break.

But head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup confirmed afterwards Cordoba was unable to continue, with Jack Stacey introduced for the second half.

“He felt some knee pain, in the final moments of the first half so we tried to get it going again. But could not really after the half-time team talk,” said the Dane. “So it was an easy, easy decision for me to take.

“We’ll have to look at him tomorrow morning (Wednesday) to see. We need to see the reaction on him, the knee, everything. Most likely a scan tomorrow and then we have some answers.”

Marcelino Nunez and Anis Ben Slimane looked to be struggling in the second half before they departed, while Josh Sargent appeared to be stretching his hamstrings towards the closing stages of a gruelling encounter against Daniel Farke’s Leeds.

Sargent’s first half penalty was cancelled out by Largie Ramazani’s angled finish.

“It was tired bodies. Hopefully nothing else,” said Thorup. “We knew that Anis was maybe somewhere in between 60 and 70 minutes, and that was the plan before the game. And then the rest of the guys were just tired, and that’s also what I’m pleased about with the subs, because I think they supported the guys in the best possible way, and were able to actually help in some defensive moments, but also to twist the game a little bit so we could actually get the momentum back.

“I think the last 15 minutes was really good for us, and we gave it a shot, and we tried to create some good moments.”

Thorup spoke exclusively to the Pinkun at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.
