Linesman taken ill during West Brom vs Middlesbrough released from hospital
The PGMOL have confirmed that the linesman who was taken ill during West Bromwich Albion vs Middlesbrough has been discharged from hospital.
Rob Smith began to feel ill in the seventh minute at The Hawthorns and play was suspended while he initially received treatment.
Smith was then taken to a hospital in Walsall, where he underwent several tests but has since been released and is now at home recovering.

In a statement posted on X on Wednesday, the PGMOL confirmed that Smith was recovering from home while also thanking West Brom and the hospital for taking care of the linesman.
They said: “We are pleased to update that assistant referee Rob Smith has been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.
“Rob underwent tests after being taken ill during the first half of the Sky Bet Championship fixture between @WBA and @Boro on Tuesday evening.
“We would like to extend our thanks to both clubs, the paramedics at the Hawthorns and the staff at Manor Hospital in Walsall for their care of Rob.”
Fourth official Jacob Miles ended up filling in for Smith as the linesman for the remainder of the game.
