Phil Parkinson shares ‘serious’ injury update on Wrexham ace ahead of Northampton Town it’s not good.

Wrexham are expected to be without two key players for their meeting with Northampton Town after a Phil Parkinson injury update.

Wrexham started the 2024/25 League One campaign on a fine run of form that saw them sat top of the division. Birmingham City are expected to win the title ahead of Wrexham this season, though Phil Parkinson and co. looked set to mount a proper challenge in the early stages of the campaign.

However, after a 0-0 draw with Leyton Orient last weekend, Wrexham lost 1-0 to Stevenage in midweek and have now slipped five points behind Birmingham in the League One table.

As well as dropping four points and failing to score in their last two fixtures, the Welsh side were dealt some big injury blows in the last week.

Star defender Max Cleworth picked up an ankle injury against Leyton Orient on Saturday, seeing Dan Scarr brought into the eleven for the first time in the league since his summer move from Plymouth Argyle.

Then, just a few days later, Parkinson confirmed that George Evans ‘felt something crack’ versus Stevenage.

Cleworth has been a standout performer for Wrexham so far this season, scoring a very impressive three league goals in his first seven outings from centre-back.

Evans had also done well to win a place in the eleven in midweek but the midfielder now looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

As per Leader Live, Parkinson has provided fresh updates on Cleworth and Evans ahead of the Northampton Town clash, with it not looking good for the latter.

He said: “George’s injury looks a serious one which is a shame for him.

“He had a bit of a disjointed start to the season and just got himself back in good shape ready to compete for his place.

“It was an innocuous incident, the lad has almost fallen on him and we really feel for George. It looks like he is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.”

On the bright side, Cleworth’s injury is not as serious as Evans’, with Parkinson saying: “George’s is a lot more serious than Max.

“We are just waiting for the swelling to go down with Max before we can give a definitive timescale on when he will be back.”
