Norwich City boss makes Abu Kamara plea ahead of Hull City return.
The winger was a deadline day arrival at the MKM Stadium when he joined from the Canaries.
Norwich City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup has pleaded with the club’s supporters to be respectful to Abu Kamara as he prepares to make his first return to Carrow Road since joining Hull City on deadline day.
London-born Kamara came through the ranks at Norwich and spent 11 years with the Canaries but struggled to force his way into the first team picture, only making his full debut against Stevenage in the Carabao Cup earlier this season – a game in which he scored, and made it clear he wanted to leave by handing in a transfer request.
The 21-year-old’s decision to try and force through a move to the Tigers didn’t go down well with Norwich supporters, and it was hinted he would be in for a hot reception on his first return to Norfolk.
Any possible appearance on the Carrow Road playing surface, however, is likely to come from the bench on Saturday afternoon given he’s been used sparingly so far by Tigers boss Tim Walter, with in-form duo Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi occupying the two wing roles in recent weeks.
“I hope that he will be shown respect,” the Carrow Road boss said. “I think it’s important that we as a club can respect that. I always hope for the best for the players who have been here, but I hope he’s not at his best tomorrow. He maybe needs to find his position in the club, and he’s definitely a player for the future for Hull. I hope if he comes on that he will be shown respect, but not more than that.”
On facing City, the Dane joined the growing conversation surrounding the Tigers, with the general feeling being that Walter’s side have improved significantly. “Three wins in a row, in-form. I think they’ve done well, it’s one of the games that’ll be different this season,” he continued. “They’re built in a different way to other teams, a lot of rotations, a lot of movement, it will take a lot of concentration.”
