How Sheffield United’s attendance v Luton compared to the rest of the Championship

Sheffield United secured another impressive victory this weekend, winning 2-0 against Luton Town.

The Blades were the heavy favourites coming into this game anyway, with the Hatters struggling for much of the 2024/25 season thus far.

After surrendering a 2-0 lead in midweek to draw 2-2 at home against Oxford United, Rob Edwards’ side needed to respond to this setback, but that was never going to be an easy task in South Yorkshire.

Chris Wilder’s side, meanwhile, were unbeaten in the league coming into this game and were desperate to secure another three points.

With Sunderland and Leeds United sharing the points on Friday evening, this game was a brilliant chance for the Blades to climb further up the table and this is what they were able to do.

Hesitancy at the back allowed Jesurun Rak-Sakyi to capitalise and fire the ball into the back of the net 12 minutes into the game, giving United a platform to build on.

And he added a second to his tally for the day during the early stages of the second half, which was enough to seal all three points for the Blades.

Having started the season on -2 points due to a deduction, the fact they are now second in the table is very impressive and fans will be delighted with their progress following a very poor 2023/24 campaign.
