Jack Rudoni blasts ‘criminal’ Coventry City and makes Preston North End vow.Coventry City match reaction from CoventryLive as attacking midfielder Jack Rudoni reveals he and his Sky Blues teammates’ ‘devastation’ at weekend defeat and what they are going to do to put things right.
Jack Rudoni says the way Coventry City threw away a stoppage time point against Sheffield Wednesday was “criminal” and revealed that the whole team are “devastated” by Saturday’s thoroughly disappointing defeat.
The attacking midfielder scored his first goal for the club to give the Sky Blues the lead against the Owls but stoppage time lapses at the end of each half saw the home side concede their lead and end up empty handed at the CBS Arena.
“It is a hard one to take,” admitted the 23-year-old. “Looking at the game you would think that there would be either a Coventry win or a draw. It is a lack of concentration, a lack of defensive concentration that has let us down and that really cannot happen. Everyone in the dressing room knows that.

“We had chances but, in that position, you have to either win or take the point, you cannot end up losing in that position, it is criminal.”
He added: “We are devastated with the result as well, but there is not a lot more we can do other than get ready for the next game over the next two weeks. We are disappointed but we are going to have to find a way to start winning.”
Asked about the huge difference between last Tuesday night’s 3-0 win over Blackburn and Saturday’s lacklustre display a few days later, he said: “We needed more energy. The energy we had on Tuesday night was top drawer but we need more energy and confidence to play. I do not know if confidence is the right word, but we need to just play our stuff. We can do it.
“We played some good stuff and got into good areas, we had a couple chances, but we need to be more clinical in both boxes. We need to stay in charge of these games and score our chances and keep our concentration when we are defending. Easier to just say that but it is something we need to sort out.”
City now have the international break to work on the training ground to improve things ahead of next week’s return to action at Preston North End.
“We have to regroup, get together and sort it out,” insisted Rudoni. “We have to prepare as good as we can for the next game, it is a big game away at Preston. We need these two weeks to look at ourselves and how we can do better, make sure we come back with a bang and get some points on the board.”
