Nathan Jones has warned Charlton Athletic fans he will leave and they can pick the team themselves if they don’t trust him
Nathan Jones is never short of a quotable line and he has been on particularly impressive form this week after Charlton Athletic’s big League One win over promotion favourites Birmingham City.
Charlton are eighth after the opening 10 games of the season but looking upwards under Jones after five largely dismal seasons. But that didn’t protect him from abuse when they had slipped to three defeats on the spin before last weekend, taking pelters about his team selection from his own fans during a 3-2 loss at Bristol Rovers.
So he told Radio London: “People don’t know what happens through the week, people say, ‘He should be playing.’ He might be carrying an injury, something might have happened in training.
“If people want to trust us and trust me to manage the football club then fine, if they [the fans] want to pick teams themselves, then come in, I’ll have my money and I’ll move somewhere else if that’s what needs to be done.
