Nottingham Forest man in ‘pole position’ as Serie A swap deal mooted.
Nottingham Forest’s good start to the season has seen some of their players linked with other clubs.
oma are hoping to capitalise on Ola Aina’s contract situation with Nottingham Forest to make a January swoop for the defender.
The 28-year-old, who has started every Premier League game for the Reds so far this season operating both at left back and right back, has caught the attention of the Serie A giants, who are drawn to his versatility.
That’s according to Gazzetto dello Sport who say Roma ‘has their eye on’ Aina following his strong start to the campaign. They describe Aina as an ‘expert’ in the full back role and reference his ability not only to play on either flank but also operate as a wing back. Indeed, they reckon he is on ‘pole position’ in the search for an answer to their problems in that area.

Gazzetto also say Aina came to their attention playing for Torino, whom he joined first on loan then permanently having come through at Chelsea. Another variable in the interest is that Roma are owned by soon-to-be Everton owner Friedkin Group, who are keen on the Premier League market.
Given the fact Aina is out of contract in the summer the Giallorossi could approach a deal in two ways, either by opening negotiations on a summer free transfer in January, which clubs are allowed to do in the final six months of deals, or by trying to buy him outright in the next transfer window. The piece also claims Roma could offer Nicola Zalewski in exchange, with the Poland international valued at around €12-15million.
