Chris Sutton sends words of encouragement to Hull City despite Norwich loss.
The Tigers saw their winning run ended at the weekend.
Chris Sutton says Hull City should not lose heart despite being well beaten by his former club Norwich City at the weekend, a result which ended their three-game winning run.
City were thrashed 4-0 by Sutton’s old club at Carrow Road, as the Canaries exploited the huge gaps in Tim Walter’s side, and it could have been worse, had Josh Sargent not thumped a penalty against the base of Ivor Pandur’s post.
The defeat in Norfolk brought to an end City’s three-game winning run and move Norwich to within a point of the top six, while leaving the Tigers sat in 13th, four points back after just nine games of the season.
Speaking exclusively on the latest episode of the 1904 Club podcast, Sutton felt that while Norwich were beginning to click under new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup, the Tigers were still very much a work in progress, but said neither were anywhere near the finished article after such an early stage of the campaign.
“Hull, the good run they’ve been on and the teams they’ve played on that run and think they should be beating, but I don’t think it works like that,” he said. “I don’t think there’s any real weak team; it’s much of a muchness. Norwich haven’t cracked it yet and neither have Hull blown their chances after one horrendous defeat Carrow Road.”
