£7m West Brom star could return to action next week amid Carlos Corberan’s new update

West Brom striker Daryl Dike could make a cameo appearance for the U21s against Swansea City next week, as per the Express and Star.
West Brom have rarely been able to call upon American star Dike since signing him in January 2022.

Injuries have ravaged his time at The Hawthorns, specifically two achilles tendon ruptures in quick succession. As such, he’s only played 32 times in two-and-a-half years, chipping in with eight goals and an assist for Carlos Corberan’s side in the process.

Having worked his way back on the long road to recovery, there have been increasingly positive updates on his situation. Now, amid fresh words from Corberan, it seems Dike isn’t far away from returning on the pitch.

The Express and Star states there is an ‘outside chance’ that the West Brom striker features briefly for the U21s against Swansea City’s youngsters next week.

Corberan was keen to stress that while the 24-year-old is getting close that he will have to appear for the young Baggies a couple of times before coming into contention for first-team selection.

“He is now training with a team, but with the U21s, so his first step to come back…we have been specific,” the West Brom boss said.

“Individual physical work, and then technical and tactical, but when we moved to the collective training drills, the first step the medical staff wanted to do was with the U21s.
