How Belgian media rated Leicester City star Wout Faes’ display vs Italy as Juventus scouts watched.

Leicester City star Wout Faes was involved in a 2-2 draw for national side Belgium against Italy.

The Foxes will be hoping that they can build on a brilliant win vs Bournemouth just before the second international break of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

For Steve Cooper and Leicester City, the break admittedly came at a poor time as the Foxes boss will have been hoping to bring that momentum into their following clashes against Southampton and Nottingham Forest, both of which could easily be crucial in the entire outlook on the season.

As the Foxes wait for the incoming six-pointer against fellow promoted side Southampton, several key players have been involved on international duty. One of which is Belgian centre-back Wout Faes.

The towering Leicester City defender had quite a turbulent summer which involved him voicing his concerns in the build up to the season, and whilst his future is still undecided, Juventus scouts have monitored his situation, although Faes’ performance against Italy will most certainly not work in the Belgian’s favour if he is wanting to make a move to the European giants.

How Leicester City star Wout Faes fared for Belgium vs Italy
Faes started for the Belgian Red Devils against Italy, notching a full 90 minutes of game time.

Whilst Belgium came away with a respectable draw against Italy, the Belgian media was somewhat damning of his performance.

Per Belgian publication GVA, Faes was handed a ‘5’ out of 10 for his performance, where they wrote: “Could not intercept the cross that led to the 1-0. Was at the base of the 2-2 with a smart header.”

In the interests of Faes, he will have been hoping to put on more of an assured defensive performance as the Juventus scouts overlooked his game over possible transfer interest.

Wout Faes must respond in positive fashion following conclusion of international break
There are no doubts that Faes showed inklings of class whilst on the pitch with Belgium, and he has certainly been a solid player at the back often enough for Cooper’s side in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

Whilst at times Leicester City have been questionable defensively, it can be guaranteed that Faes will always look to put his body on the line for his side.

Whilst this interest that has been drummed up from Juve scouts showing interest in him could leave him sidetracked, or his lacklustre performance against Italy could potentially affect his confidence, Faes must put both to once side and ensure that Leicester City is his priority at this moment, especially with such important fixtures awaiting the Foxes at such an early stage of the campaign.
