Clevs says Watford striker is currently proving him wrong.
There is a Watford striker that has scored seven goals in ten senior appearances so far this season – but he’s currently playing in Denmark.
Mileta Rajovic was loaned out to Brondby just after the English transfer window had shut, and he’s scored four times in five league and cup outings since then.
The big striker was Watford’s top scorer last season, and already had three to his name this term before the loan.
With both Vakoun Bayo and Daniel Jebbison struggling to hit the net, the spotlight is on the decision to let Rajovic go.
“I said to Mileta to go and prove me wrong. We have the option to recall in January, so go and prove me wrong,” said Tom Cleverley.
“And it was a development plan from my perspective. I couldn’t guarantee him minutes, and I felt that was unfair to how professional he is and how much ability he’s got.
“He’s absolutely developing, and he’s also proving me wrong right now.
“He’s doing great and I’m pleased for him, and the other part of me is focussing on developing what we have in the building.
“It’s difficult to compare because levels are very different but I’m happy how well he is doing and alongside that I will continue to develop the players we have here now.”

The Watford head coach feels there needs to be greater appreciation for the role that Bayo plays, while recognising his chance conversion has to improve.
“I don’t read comments, and I can honestly say I’ve not heard anything in the stadium, although that may be just me being focussed,” said Cleverley.
“It can be very subtle what Bayo does for the team at times, and he really does a fantastic job.
“For example, look at Kayembe’s goal against Middlesbrough. What people probably won’t see is Bayo’s part in that goal.
“I don’t want to give our secrets away but he has played small parts so often, and his hold-up play is a key strength.
“How well he manages the game out of possession, how unselfish he’s been in some of his runs around the box – I know it is very subtle.
“He listens and he carries out our game plan perfectly.
“We all know, and he knows too, his chance conversion could be better and he is working hard on that.
“But I’ve also let Bayo know twice this season how much we value him and how important he is to the team.”
