Nottingham Forest have been hit with a whopping £750,000 fine over their controversial club statement after a defeat at Everton in April.
The East Midlands outfit were left raging over a series of refereeing decisions in a crucial Premier League match against the Toffees, when they believed they were denied three penalties. Everton won the relegation battle at Goodison Park 2-0.
The controversial match on April 21 was refereed by Anthony Taylor and overseen by VAR Stuart Attwell – the latter a supporter of Forest’s then relegation rivals Luton Town. After the game, Forest released an incendiary statement that went viral.

Forest said: “Three extremely poor decisions – three penalties not given – which we simply cannot accept. We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options.”
The Mirror reports that a statement released by the FA on Friday, October 11, read: “Nottingham Forest have been fined £750,000 and warned for misconduct in relation to comments posted on social media after their Premier League game against Everton on Sunday 21 April.
