Everton eyeing David Moyes for interim role, hatching ploy to land Jose Mourinho
Dan Friedkin is plotting a move to bring Jose Mourinho to Everton, with David Moyes likely to take charge as interim boss.
American businessman Dan Friedkin will soon complete the takeover as the new Everton owner and he seems to have some massive plans for the Merseyside club. According to a report from TBR Football, the Toffees have plans to appoint Jose Mourinho as their boss in the long run.
Everton have not had the best of starts to the new season, and Sean Dyche’s position is under threat. If he is shown the exit door before the end of the 2024/25 season, they will look to bring in former boss David Moyes on an interim basis to ensure they stay in the Premier League.
Everton to appoint Mourinho as their next boss
Friedkin is currently the president of AS Roma and has worked with Mourinho during the Portuguese manager’s time at the Italian club. He wants to bring him back to the Premier League as the American business tycoon has ambitious plans for the Merseyside club.
When a new owner comes in, the majority of the time he comes in with new ideas, and there is a managerial change in most cases. Friedkin has already asked intermediaries to work on a potential successor for Sean Dyche, and Mourinho is quite high on their wishlist as he did well for them in Italy.
