Szmodics & Gallagher updates after leaving Blackburn Rovers
We have taken a look at the players who departed Ewood Park over the summer and how they are getting on for their respective new clubs.
Sam Gallagher
The versatile forward signed for Stoke City in the summer after a five-year spell in East Lancashire.
Gallagher has made three Championship appearances for the Potters so far, netting in a 6-1 win against Portsmouth earlier this month.
However, he picked up a hamstring injury against Swansea City before the international break and is now set to miss Saturday’s clash with Norwich.
Stoke currently sit 17th in the table but have taken four points from their last couple of matches under new boss Narcis Pelach.
Sam Szmodics
The Irish international was snapped up by Premier League newcomers Ipswich following the best season of his career at Ewood Park.
Szmodics got off to a dream start at Portman Road, getting on the scoresheet against champions Manchester City.
He also started against Fulham, Brighton and Southampton but has been introduced off the bench in the past couple of games due to strike partner Liam Delap’s impressive form.
Ipswich find themselves 17th in the table and a point above the drop zone at this early stage. Kieran McKenna’s men are still waiting for their first league victory as they prepare to host Everton this weekend.
