Nathaniel Chalobah injury update ahead of Sheffield Wednesday vs Burnley.
Sheffield Wednesday summer signing Nathaniel Chalobah is yet to feature for the Owls in the Championship this season.
Sheffield Wednesday signed one-time England midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah on a free transfer this summer, following his West Brom release.
The former Chelsea man spent two years at The Hawthorns and featured 33 times in the Championship last season, helping the Baggies achieve a play-off finish.
But Chalobah is yet to feature in the league for Danny Rohl’s Sheffield Wednesday, having made just one appearance in the Carabao Cup.
Chalobah arrived at Sheffield Wednesday with a pre-existing injury and then sustained another muscle injury in his game against Grimsby Town in the cup.
Fans have been waiting patiently to see the 29-year-old make his return to fitness, with the Owls particularly light in the centre of midfield.
And ahead of the Owls’ Championship clash against Burnley at Hillsborough this weekend, Chalobah has shared an injury update.

Ahead of the game against Burnley, Chalobah has taken to social media with a story on Instagram.
Chalobah posted a picture of himself in training with the caption ‘So good to see you brudda’, suggesting that he’s now back in first-team training at Wednesday.
Speaking earlier in the season, Rohl suggested that Chalobah was a few weeks away from a return to fitness, not wanting to rush him back after a succession of muscle injuries since arriving in S6.
Nathaniel Chalobah’s stats at West Brom last season
Owls fans still don’t know what to expect from Chalobah having barely seen him in action this season.
But his stats from last time round with West Brom could give us an indication into what to expect from the midfielder.
Chalobah played a rotational role under Carlos Corberan last season, starting just seven games in the Championship.
But he still recorded the 14th-most accurate passes-per-game of any West Brom player, despite barely starting (11.8), and also the 14th-most key passes-per-game (0.2).
Chalobah also did his defensive duties with 0.6 tackles-per-game, which was the 12th-highest of any West Brom player last season, and 0.3 interceptions-per-game which was the 11th-highest.
And the former Chelsea man’s heat map, which is available on Sofascore, shows that he’s someone who covered all angles of the pitch.
For Rohl, Chalobah certainly seems like a useful midfielder who can pass the ball and win it back, so his eventual rerun to action will be a huge plus.
