Colts Add Veteran RB Amid Jonathan Taylor Injury Update.
The Indianapolis Colts added to their depth at running back Wednesday as the team knows more about Jonathan Taylor’s injury in Week 7. Taylor has missed the Colts’ previous two games with a high ankle sprain he suffered in Indianapolis’ 27-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4. Taylor’s absence from the Colts’ running back rotation has been noticeable. The Colts rushed for just 99 yards in Week 5 and 80 yards in Week 6. Per the Colts’ injury report released on
Wednesday, Taylor was a non-participant at practice. The 3-3 Indianapolis squad is preparing to play the 2-3 Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The Colts posted an announcement on their X account Wednesday that they signed veteran running back Salvon Ahmed to the practice squad. In a corresponding move, Indianapolis released kicker Spencer Shrader from the practice squad. The San Francisco 49ers initially signed Ahmed as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2020. He has spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos. Ahmed has appeared in 38 NFL games and
started in four. The five-foot-11, 197-pound athlete has 163 carries for 593 yards and five touchdowns in his four-year career. The 25-year-old has recorded 40 receptions for 274 yards and one touchdown in that span.
