‘Ready’ – West Brom boss prepared to throw in attacker ahead of Oxford United trip
West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has said he believes Mikey Johnston is now ‘ready’ to make an impact.
West Brom swooped to land the winger on a permanent basis this past summer following his impressive spell on loan during the second-half of last season.
Johnston, 25, has had to be patient since his switch to The Hawthorns in the last window though and hasn’t been 100% fit.
Speaking ahead of their away trip to Oxford United this weekend, Carlos Corberan has said, as per a report by the Express & Star: “Personally now I see him more ready. His pre season was very strange. He was probably in a place where you know that you are not going to stay (Celtic) so you have been doing the pre season waiting for movement. The movement arrived in the last moment of the market. He had a problem with contact (a fractured eye socket) that stopped him to play.”
West Brom selection latest
West Brom brought in Johnston on a temporary basis last January to bolster their attacking options and he became a hit with the Midlands outfit.
He scored seven goals in 20 games in all competitions to help them reach the Championship play-offs.
