Aaron Rodgers opens up on Achilles injury, recovery timeline: Rehab plan will 'shock some people'

Jets WR Mike Williams breaks silence after public criticism from QB Aaron Rodgers

On Friday, Williams told ESPN’s Rich Cimini that he and Rodgers had a meeting following Monday’s loss, and he wasn’t upset the quarterback called him out.

“I just have to be on the red line,” Williams said, smiling. This comment probably refers to how Rodgers claimed Williams faded to the sideline too much on his vertical route.

Perhaps Williams is trying to regain Rodgers’ trust. On Tuesday, the Jets acquired WR Davante Adams — who played with Rodgers in Green Bay from 2014-21 — in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Adams’ arrival could result in fewer targets for Williams, who only has 10 catches for 145 yards in six games. He will be the team’s WR4 behind Adams, Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard.

As a result, he could be a name to watch before the Nov. 5 trade deadline. On Thursday, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini tweeted that the Los Angeles Chargers, New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers are among the teams that have shown interest in Williams.

Williams indicated he wants to stay in New York.

“I’m where my feet at,” he said. “That’s the main thing for me. I came here for a reason. I’m here. I’m excited for this weekend … and to play Sunday [against the Pittsburgh Steelers].”

To stay with the organization, Williams must get along with Rodgers. That may be why he’s not saying he’s upset the QB called him out.
