Teoscar Hernandez Reveals He Got A Ring When Astros Beat Dodgers in 2017.

The Houston Astros traded Teoscar Hernández to the Toronto Blue Jays in July 2017, just three months before the Astros would go on to win the World Series over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hernández was no longer a part of the Astros when they overtook the Dodgers 4-3 in the controversial World Series, but he still ended up receiving a championship ring for his time with the Astros that season.

“A lot of people don’t know, but I got a ring in 2017 with Houston Astros, but I didn’t get to play,” Hernández said. “But one of my dreams is to go to the World Series and obviously win everything and be part of a winning team and be there and help a team win a championship. And obviously now I’m going to have that chance if we win tonight.”

Hernández did not really get an opportunity to play for the Astros that season. The Astros optioned him to Triple-A Fresno to begin the season. The Astros called Hernández up in late April, but he became injured after colliding with José Altuve and went on the injured list.

Hernández previously made his debut with the Astros in Aug. 2016, appearing in 41 games for Houston. He finished his Astros tenure hitting .230 with 23 hits, 15 runs, four home runs, and 11 RBIs before joining the Blue Jays at the 2017 trade deadline, where he spent the bulk of his career. Despite having a limited role with the Astros, Hernández still took home a ring.

This time around, Hernández is looking to help the Dodgers win a World series and truly earn that championship ring. Hernández has been one of the team’s most impactful players all season, recording 33 home runs and 99 RBIs during the year. Over the postseason, Hernández has added six hits, five runs, two home runs, and seven RBIs for the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are just one win over the New York Mets awway from advancing to the World Series, and Hernández’s first chance at playing in a World Series game in his career. If the Dodgers do advance, and do win the World Series, Hernández will be able to win a ring he contributed to significantly.
