Danny Welbeck gives very positive update after worrisome injury on Saturday
Former Manchester United player Danny Welbeck’s injury, which was picked up at the weekend, is thankfully nowhere near as bad as first feared.
Welbeck played 142 times for the Red Devils, scoring 29 goals before leaving for Arsenal in 2014.
The United academy product has turned back the clock this season with an impressive five goals in nine matches for Brighton and Hove Albion.
He already found the net against his former club in August as he scored the opening goal in the Seagulls’ 2-1 win over Erik ten Hag’s side.
The 33 year old was once again on the scoresheet as he netted Brighton’s winner at St James’ Park on Saturday against Newcastle United.
Unfortunately he had to be had to be given oxygen after sustaining a concerning injury during the match after a sickening collision with Fabian Schar.
Brighton did provide some positive news on Saturday night as they posted an image on social media of the forward returning on the plane journey down south again with the rest of his teammates.
Welbeck has provided even better news with a post on X last night.
He posted, “still a bit sore, but after some extra checks and scan today, I’m pleased to say I should be back in training soon.”
