Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is clear on his plans for new contracts amid reports of planned talks with players.
Sheffield Wednesday are a club looking to plan for the long-term nowadays with manager Danny Rohl keen to lead a brighter future at Hillsborough.
The club have been regularly shrouded by uncertainty and mismanagement at the top but with the German at the helm, there’s confidence that the Owls are on the up.
A big part of planning for the future is ensuring there’s clarity over player contracts. There has previously been scrambles to tie players down before their deals end, but Rohl and Wednesday are looking to get ahead on that front.
Reports have said new deals are targeted for Akin Famewo and Pol Valentin, who are only tied to Sheffield Wednesday until next summer.
Now, speaking to The Star, Rohl has revealed the latest on that front. He further highlighted the importance of being active and said he has a clear picture of what he wants.
“We have some things in our mind,” the Sheffield Wednesday boss said.
“We will start and we will see how quick we can agree things and how quick we can get deals done. We will see. What is important is that we have a clear picture and that I have a clear picture.
“I know what I want to have and I know what we need to bring the squad to the next level. This is the biggest key.”
Other players out of contract
Famewo and Valentin are not the only Sheffield Wednesday players approaching the end of their deals.
Of course, there might be the intention to tie all these down to new contracts, but it’s sure to make for a busy period at Hillsborough regardless with decisions to be made and talks to be had.
