Hull City midfielder ruled out of Burnley clash with fresh injury concern.

Hull City boss Tim Walter has said Marvin Mehlem is ‘not fit’ to face Burnley this evening.
Hull City’s midfielder has sustained a calf injury and is expected to miss the visit of the Clarets tonight. The Tigers head into their upcoming Championship clash on the back of their 1-0 loss at home to Sunderland last time out.

Mehlem, 27, has been a regular for the East Yorkshire outfit since his summer switch to England. He has made 11 appearances in all competitions so far this season, 10 of which have come in the league, and has scored once against Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.

In this latest update regarding his condition, Walter has said, as per BBC Humberside Sport on X: “We have a problem with Marvin. He mentioned some pain in his calf. He will have an MRI scan and we will see. I think unfortunately he is not fit for tomorrow (Wednesday).”

Hull City injury latest
Hull City have a few different players to pick from in Mehlem’s position like Regan Slater, Gustavo Puerta, and Kasey Palmer.

The ex-Germany youth international hasn’t quite got going yet with his new team but is still adapting to life in a new country.

He rose up through the academy at Karlsruher and that was where he first crossed paths with Walter.

Mehlem broke into their first-team as a youngster and went on to play 11 times for their first-team.

Darmstadt then snapped him up in 2017 and he went on to become a key player for his previous club.

He made 191 outings and fired 21 goals altogether, helping them gain promotion to the Bundesliga in 2023.

They were relegated from the German top flight last term and he subsequently left for a new challenge.

What now?
Hull City will have to make do with Mehlem against Burnley.

It will be a tough test for the Tigers against a side who dropped out of the Premier League in the last campaign.

Walter’s men will need to be at their best as they look to return to winning ways after back-to-back defeats to Norwich City and Sunderland.
