I watched starlet Kieran Morgan score his first senior goal at QPR – Spurs fans should be excited
Tottenham Hotspur loaned the teenage midfielder to QPR’s Development Squad, but he’s making an impression in the first team.
QPR ended a four game run of defeats and moved off the bottom of the Championship table on Tuesday night with a point against Coventry City under the lights at Loftus Road.
Marti Cifuentes and his senior professionals have 18-year-old Tottenham Hotspur loanee Kieran Morgan to thank for that point. QPR had trailed by one goal since the fourth minute and had lacked quality in the final third before the midfielder’s 63rd-minute strike.
Morgan’s rise into the R’s first team has happened suddenly, having been announced as a loan signing for the Development Squad at QPR in May. The teenager has been on the books at Spurs for over 10 years and played for the club’s under-18 side last term.
Kieran Morgan scores first senior goal for QPR
With QPR struggling for form, Cifuentes turned to promote Morgan and his cameo on Tuesday night was the first time I had seen the player in action. The Spurs rising star had also been given minutes off the bench against Portsmouth last weekend, his first senior appearance having featured in the matchday squad for three second tier games so far this season.
