Goalscorer Mbeumo reflects on Chelsea victory | Brentford FC

“One day” – Brentford star reveals intentions of returning home delight about regular football.

Mikkel Damsgaard arrived at Brentford from Sampdoria with a lot of promise.

He hasn’t quite lived up to it yet, having faced issues around consistency and fitness, but this season, the Denmark international has given signs that things are getting better.

He started the last six games for Brentford and has played in a variety of positions under Thomas Frank, showing his value for the club.

The 24-year-old has now spoken to TipsBladet about his time at the club so far and said he’s gaining confidence after injury setbacks last season.

“I feel that I am in a really good place, and I feel that I am gaining more and more confidence. Of course, it’s really cool to play a lot and feel like you have a lot of confidence.”

He also stated injuries impacted his confidence early in his stint at the Bees and when he was fit again last season, another problem struck him down.
“I think everyone knows that when you’ve been out for almost a year, it takes a long time to build up your confidence when you come back after that.

“And then when I felt like I was starting to get my confidence back a bit, I got injured again and was out for four months.”

Damsgaard was also asked about the rumours linking him with a move back to Nordsjaelland. He stated that he would like to return to Denmark at some point later in his career, but probably not now.

“I don’t quite feel that it is time to go home to Denmark yet. But it is quite clear that when one day it might be time to travel home again, Nordsjaelland could be exciting.”

Damsgaard has three assists already in this campaign, so things are going in the right direction.

He is fit and firing and playing reliably across the park, which is what he was known for at Sampdoria.
