Jets Coach Turns Heads with ‘Embarrassment’ Claim of Aaron Rodgers Receivers

The New York Jets will look to win their first game since Week 3 when they face the New England Patriots on Sunday. After beginning the season 2-1, the Jets have lost four straight, and will now face the 1-6 Patriots, who are also the last team that they’ve beaten.

Many have blamed the Jets’ offense for their lack of success so far this season. After entering the season with plenty of hype with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback and multiple young weapons, they have failed to live up to expectations. Even after New York acquired All-Pro receiver Davante Adams last week, they still struggled to put together a consistent performance. One young weapon who has yet to make an impact is rookie receiver Malachi Corley. In his rookie season, Corley has only been active for three games, where he totaled just one reception for four yards. After many questioned why the Jets have not looked to get Corley involved during their struggles, offensive play-caller Todd Downing explained that the team simply has too many options.

“There’s an embarrassment of riches in the wide receiver room right now and to not crack the top five or six of that group isn’t a knock on Malachi – it’s a testament to what Joe [Douglas] done with that position group,” Downing said.
