Sheffield Wednesday difference-maker proved big point to Danny Rohl in ‘quality’ Portsmouth display
One Sheffield Wednesday star put in a statement performance in the 2-1 win against Portsmouth.
Sheffield Wednesday managed to bring three points back to South Yorkshire after an incredible second half that saw Danny Rohl’s side come back from a one-goal deficit.
Owls striker Michael Smith won the game in incredible style after a thunderbolt that gave the Pompey shot-stopper no chance, whilst Josh Windass’ goal was also brilliant.
The game showed that the Owls have become quite the force to be reckoned with on their travels, after picking up seven points in six games on their travels.
Of course there will still be mild concerns over the first half performance at Fratton Park to the current Sheffield Wednesday side, and one man was able to help transform the game in the second half and has sent a clear message to Rohl to give him a start in the upcoming games.
Yan Valery made significant difference for Sheffield Wednesday in Portsmouth win
Owls wing-back Yan Valery was brought on at half-time after a fairly troubling opening half on Sheffield Wednesday’s travels in the Championship clash, and there is no doubt that the Tunisian international showed clear ‘quality’, per The Star, when he came on for Rohl’s side.
The Sheffield Wednesday man was played at right-centre-back last time out against Burnley and was at fault for the first goal after mistiming a clearance, and as a result was dropped to the bench.
