Leicester star admits he missed teammate after exit – Transfer hasn’t worked out so far.

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has admitted he misses international teammate Kelechi Iheanacho at the club, after he left in the summer on a free transfer.

Ndidi has been speaking to Brila about his friend and how he was sorry to see him depart the club in the summer transfer window.

Iheanacho brought an end to a seven-year spell with Leicester in the summer when his contract came to an end. He eventually joined Sevilla on a free transfer at the end of July.

He originally joined the Foxes in a €27.7m deal from Manchester City in 2017 and went on to make 232 appearances for the club, with a tally of 61 goals and 34 assists.

The striker spent all of his time with Leicester playing alongside Nigerian teammate Ndidi, who had joined the Foxes six months earlier in the January transfer window.

The pair struck up a firm friendship in those years and Ndidi admits he was sorry to see the striker depart for Spain as a result.

“I felt like I’m going to miss him which I still do,” he said.
“But I couldn’t be greedy—he is also looking out for his future, and he wants to try different things, which is good. He’s an amazing guy, and thankfully, in the national team we’re still going to catch up.

“I think he’s just one of those things, it’s the life you know, you can’t play with the same friends you grew up with for 20 years.”

Sadly, for Iheanacho, the decision to leave for Sevilla has not yet worked out for him or the Spanish club.

He continues to find himself on the sidelines at his new club and the ‘sensations’ he’s been giving are not positive according to Estadio Deportivo.

They believe he is in a physical state that’s far below the required level and he’s shown ‘major failures’ when it comes to linking up with his teammates.

All in all, he’s not settled in at all and it is now not even being ruled out that he could be sold in the January transfer window if they can find a buyer.

That would be a disappointing outcome for all involved and proof that perhaps the grass was not greener away from Leicester.
