New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has insisted that the team are not far away from turning their season around despite losing four games in a row
Aaron Rodgers has told his New York Jets teammates that he’s optimistic about the team’s direction despite a run of four consecutive losses.
Following a promising 2-1 start to the season, the Jets’ record plummeted to 2-5 with Rodgers committing uncharacteristic errors while head coach Robert Saleh was shown the door a fortnight ago. The Jets entered the campaign tipped to outpace the Buffalo Bills for the AFC East title and ranked alongside top AFC contenders such as the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens.
However, lofty preseason expectations have frequently crumbled for the Jets in recent years. In comments to the press before the next game, Rodgers seemed to suggest that his side is nearing the potential many anticipated this year but are stumbling over their own feet.
He remarked: “It’s like the story of cutting down a tree, and it’s the final blow that actually fells the tree but you might not see the first thousand hacks at it. Sometimes it just takes that one thing to happen, it could be a speech before a game, after a game, something during the week that just clicks, and the energy of that click can be contagious.
