Anthony Richardson Facing Intense Backlash After Questionable Decision in Colts-Texans.

The Indianapolis Colts dropped to .500 football on Sunday with a 23-20 loss to C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans This was not a banner day for quarterback Anthony Richardson, who struggled immensely. He was sacked a total of five times and only completed 10 of 32 passes for a mere 175 yards and one touchdown. The signal-caller was also picked off once. The run game kept Indy in this game, with Richardson rushing for 45 yards, while Jonathan Taylor cooked the Texans for 105 yards. In the third quarter, Richardson made a puzzling decision to remove himself from the game. He explained why he did it following the loss:

“Tired, I ain’t gonna lie. That was a lot of running right there that I did … So, I just told Shane (Steichen) I needed a break right there,” Richardson said, via Ari Meirov. As you can imagine NFL fans weren’t pleased to see this, especially because the Colts were in scoring position and only trailing by 10 points. Fans didn’t hold back on their opinions on social media, absolutely ripping apart the second-year QB. “Isn’t this man supposed to be a professional athlete???,” one fan wrote. “This is the face of the Colts franchise saying this. Horrible look,” another fan voiced. “Oh BAD

look. Oh boy,” a third fan said. “Mother-f*****g-wow. Honestly. Wow,” another fan wrote. That’s just a glimpse. Many NFL supporters on X were disgusted with Richardson taking a break in the middle of a potential scoring drive. The former Florida Gator completed just 2 of 15 passes at one point. While taking a rest isn’t necessarily a terrible thing, deciding it yourself is a questionable move.
