NORWICH CITY WOMEN: City thriller sees points shared at The Hive

The weekend had quite the theme.

City’s nail-biting 3-3 draw with Middlesbrough at Carrow Road on Sunday wasn’t the only 3-3 draw a Norwich side were involved in at the weekend, with the women recording the same scoreline against London Bees in North London.

The Canaries headed to the capital looking to get back to winning ways in the league after a fortnight of cup success.

In fact, the Canaries have had three successive draws in the WNL Division One South East, recording recent stalemates against Chesham, AFC Sudbury, and Real Bedford.

Andy Cook brought Issy Moore back into the side after she missed last weekend’s Plate victory over Actonians, and there was a place on the bench for new recruit Ellie Bishop – a defender who signed from Watford in the week.

And, similar to their male counterparts, the Canaries couldn’t have got off to a better start.

With only ten minutes on the clock, Lauren Tomlinson delivered a dangerous cross straight onto the head of Shannon Shaw, who nodded home to put City one up from the first meaningful attack of the match.

But what happened next summed up the story of this topsy-turvy game.

Like Shaw’s opener, tricky Bees winger Sophie Lee’s cross found Samantha Lanza in the area who tapped in from close range.
